The quickest way to get caught up on the most important things happening today in Irving.
Morning, people of Irving! Ash DeMello here with the latest Irving Daily.
First, today's weather:
Partly sunny. High: 56 Low: 32.
Here are the top five stories in Irving today:
- Parkland Hospital officials in Dallas report some startling statistics: Of the 685 people who have died of COVID-19 at the hospital, 95 percent have been unvaccinated. Chief medical officer Joseph Chang stated, "Getting vaccinated against COVID-19 is the best way to protect yourself from this deadly virus." (WFAA.com)
- There's soon to be a new exhibition at the Irving Archives and Museum. Beginning January 28, the facility will feature "I AM A MAN: Civil Rights Photographs in the American South, 1960-1970." The visual story will showcase the Civil Rights movement during a tumultuous decade with the intent of inspiring more progress today. (City of Irving)
- Find out where to score your next cup of coffee with a list of nine DFW coffee shops from CW33 NewsFix. Not too far away from Irving is Wayward Coffee Co. in the Bishop Arts District, featuring a rotating list of single-origin beans, pour overs and premium syrups for those who prefer flavored beverages.
- Grand Prairie is accepting proposals for artwork to cover traffic boxes. (The Dallas Morning News; subscription required)

Last week, we told you about our new favorite non-alcoholic go-to — the refreshingly bitter drinks from our partners at Betera. They're chef-created from natural botanicals, lightly effervescent and worthy of life beyond "Dry January." We mentioned that their Ginger-Orange was excellent; we've since tried Elderflower-Lime and loved it as well — light and floral with the perfect amount of zing. We're converts.
Enough of you took Betera up on their 15% discount on first orders for Patch Daily readers that they've extended the offer for another week. Use PATCH15 at checkout. Highly recommended — try Betera here.
