Here are the top stories today in Irving:
- November is Native American Heritage Month, and the Irving Archives and Museum is an excellent place to observe the occasion. Staff recently presented a special virtual exhibition exploring the Native American experience, "Away From Home." The material is available to view via the org's website. (Irving Weekly)
- A local company held its annual Education Connections Summit earlier this week, awarding a $50,000 grant to a Chicago-based nonprofit, Ignite. Irving's Vizient is one of the nation's leading health care performance improvement companies, and its annual summit was an opportunity to celebrate exceptional patient care through the pandemic. The company recognized Ignite for its work in providing housing, access to employment and education opportunities to homeless youth. (Yahoo! Finance)
- Five hundred students from 29 campuses across the state met at Nimitz High School earlier this week to showcase their academic prowess. The local school hosted the annual Academic Decathalon, which tests teens in the subjects of math, music, social science, art, literature, economics and science.
