Here are the top stories today in Irving:

  1. Two individuals were killed and one wounded in a shooting at a Dallas apartment complex near Stevens Park early Saturday morning, police say. An unidentified male driver shot a woman around 3:10 AM while she was outside the apartment building. Her companion fired shots at the driver, who then returned gunfire. An investigation is underway. (WFAA.com)
  2. A resource fair at Holy Cross Catholic Church helped those experiencing homelessness on Saturday, reports Lili Zheng. The Dallas Citizen Homelessness Commission teamed up with CitySquared MDHA and other organizations to put vulnerable community members in touch with mental health services, job training and other essential service providers. The city has about 3,722 residents experiencing homelessness, and those numbers appear to be increasing yearly. Organizers say the Fair was an effort to change that trend. (NBC 5 Dallas-Fort Worth)
  3. The Irving hospitality industry lost a giant last week with the passing of Cheryl Barnes Calhoun. Ms. Calhoun worked for the Irving Convention and Visitors Bureau and most recently for the Irving Convention Center as marketing director before her retirement in 2016.   4. Two Dallas police squad cars were struck on E. Northwest Highway early Saturday morning. No injuries were reported. (NBC 5 Dallas-Fort Worth)
