Here are the top stories today in Irving:

  1. Pay a visit to the Irving Texas Animal Shelter with NBC-DFW to get an update on the Clear the Shelters program, now in its final week. Meet Corey Price, the Animal Services Director in Irving, who initiated the Clear the Shelters program that has now gone nationwide. Finally, hear about opportunities to help, even if you don't have the circumstances to adopt a pet right now. (NBC 5 Dallas-Fort Worth)
  2. Take a jaunt to Mitchell's Beauty and Barber Salon on North Beltline Road to see its recent upgrades. The business has not only offered haircuts for the last 31 years, but it recently became the first location for the 'Shop Talk' program, which offers community members and police officers a relaxed setting for building relationships. Because of the success of the program and locals' enthusiasm for their neighborhood barbershop, much of the money for upgrades and renovation services was donated. (Northdallasgazette)
  3. The City Of Irving offers an update on delays for brush/bulky waste and recycling collections. Citing staffing shortages, city officials say the delays are likely to continue. In the meantime, they suggest dropping brush and bulky waste materials and recycling at the Hunter Ferrell Landfill, located at 110 E. Hunter Ferrell Road. (Press Release Desk)
  4. Do you know a teen who's enthusiastic about videography AND safe driving? Send them over to the AAA-Texas and Irving Parks and Recreation Irving Student Video Contest for an opportunity to create a short video to promote safe driving habits. Click the link to find out more! (Irving Weekly)
  5. Total Office Solutions, a leading commercial moving firm, just expanded its footprint in Irving by about 330,000 square feet. Read more at D Magazine.
