Travis Middle School Briefly Evacuated; No Gas Leak Found

A district spokeswoman told Patch the school was evacuated for about an hour as a precaution. Students are back in class.

IRVING, TX — Travis Middle School in Irving was briefly evacuated Wednesday morning after reports were made of a gas-like smell near the school.

A district spokeswoman told Patch the students were removed from the school for about an hour as Irving Fire Department and energy officials checked the building and surrounding areas for rogue fumes.

Officials gave the all clear, and students returned to class, the district spokeswoman said.
