The move is part of a broader wave of freight-related layoffs nationwide, signaling ongoing pressure on manufacturers, logistics firms, and delivery contractors across multiple states.

DPS identifies driver of Polaris UTV killed in Jasper County crash (kfdm.com) — A 23‑year‑old Vidor man, Dylan Lind, was killed when his Polaris UTV overturned in a ditch along FM 1131 in Jasper County, about eight miles south of Evadale. Texas DPS and the Jasper County Sheriff's Office responded and remain involved as the investigation continues under a justice of the peace's order for an autopsy.
   

3. Football Recap: Austin Land Comes Up Big in Woodville's Win (maxpreps.com) — Jasper football fans saw the Bulldogs fall 18-10 at Woodville, dropping Jasper to 1-3 despite another strong rushing night from Woodville's Austin Land. The Bulldogs quickly bounced back, however, edging Center 21-16 on Sept. 25 to snap their road skid and keep hopes alive for turning the season around.
   

4. Jasper County Sheriff announces promotions in jail administration (kfdm.com) — Jasper County's jail leadership is changing, with Sheriff Chuck Havard promoting Jasper native and 2012 Jasper High School graduate Matt Hopson to Jail Administrator and Heather Moye to Jail Captain. The moves come as the county expands jail capacity, upgrades security systems, and manages busy ministry and outreach programs inside the facility.
