• Top permits: $290M North Texas data center leads week in construction plans (therealdeal.com) — A massive $290 million data center is planned for Sunrise Road in Lancaster, bringing a two‑story, 363,500‑square‑foot QTS Dallas facility slated to start construction this September and finish by December 2027. The project, dubbed DFW2 DC7, will add office and shell data space, positioning Lancaster as a growing hub in North Texas' booming data center market.
   

• Kodiak Targets Dallas–Houston for Driverless Trucks (truckinginfo.com) — Kodiak is already running autonomous freight runs between its Lancaster hub and Houston, with safety observers rarely touching the controls even on surface streets. The company plans to launch fully driverless service on the Dallas–Houston corridor by late 2026, potentially making Lancaster a key node in the next wave of trucking technology and logistics jobs.
   

• 'Black Cowboys: An American Story' opening at Dallas museum (equusmagazine.com) — A new exhibition, Black Cowboys: An American Story, opens October 9 at the Dallas Holocaust and Human Rights Museum and runs through April 18, 2027, with a special section honoring late Lancaster horseman Cleo Hearn. The show highlights the overlooked role of Black cowboys in Texas history, featuring artifacts, photos, and a tribute to Hearn's Cowboys of Color Rodeo legacy.
