1. New executive director of Longview Community Foundation aims to grow nonprofit (news-journal.com) — Longview residents now have a new way to support local causes through the Longview Community Foundation, led by its first executive director, Émile Cambry Jr. The foundation is building a long-term “Forever Fund” endowment to back local nonprofits and potential housing initiatives, including land bank and land trust projects aimed at keeping Longview affordable and vibrant for future generations.

City of Longview hires contractor to build fuel station, expects to save $300K annually (news-journal.com) — Longview City Council has approved a $1.02 million contract to build a dedicated fuel station at the city’s Mobile Drive public works headquarters, expected to save about $300,000 a year. By buying fuel wholesale for its large fleet, the city plans to reinvest savings into replacing aging vehicles and repairing infrastructure, while keeping police and fire fueling flexible citywide.
