- The omicron variant of COVID-19 has been detected in North Texas, Collin County Health Care Services and Tarrant County Public Health confirms. According to Ayass Bioscience in Frisco, genetic sequencing tests confirmed two cases in the Dallas-Fort Worth Metroplex over the weekend. One patient had a fever and cough, but no underlying symptoms; the second patient had no symptoms, but tested positive for the omicron variant. (NBC 5 Dallas-Fort Worth)
- The Collin County Sheriff’s Office is asking for the public’s assistance locating a man suspected of murder. 25-year-old Miguel Angel Hernandez of McKinney is wanted for the Dec. 8 murder of Roberto Guerrero IV in New Hope. Anyone with information on Hernandez’s whereabouts is asked to call the Collin County Sheriff’s Office at 972-547-5350 and ask to speak to Sergeant Reim or Captain Hatch. (CBS Dallas / Fort Worth)
