- The Dallas Sierra Club is organizing a group to oppose TXI Operations’ permit to build a concrete batch plant in McKinney. The new plan would be located at 1825 FM 546, southeast of the city's airport. According to Victoria Howard, conservation and eco-action chair of the Dallas Sierra Club, citizens are worried about the potential byproducts of the new concrete plant, such as concrete dust in the air, polluted water runoff, and diesel fumes. (Dallas Observer)
- Everbrook Academy, a STEAM-focused new child care and education center, is set to open in McKinney this spring. Located at 2854 Orchid Drive, Everbrook will serve children between the ages of 6 weeks to 12 years. According to the school, children will be offered a science, technology, engineering, arts, and mathematics (STEAM) curriculum to support “21st-century learners.” The center will follow CDC guidance in maintaining a healthy learning environment and offer livestream video and real-time mobile updates for parents.
