School Board Trustees Finalize 2022-23 Attendance Zones

The Frisco ISD Board of Trustees has finalized attendance zones for the 2022-23 school year to help balance enrollment and resources at existing schools. The rezoning also prepares for the opening of two new campuses: Panther Creek High School and Minett Elementary School. The opening of two new campuses supports the FISD student-opportunity model, which includes high schools with smaller enrollments that increase student engagement and connectivity and offer more opportunities in extracurricular activities.

District Celebrates Campus Teacher of the Year Honorees

Each year, Frisco ISD teachers nominate and vote for their peers in honor of the annual Campus Teacher of the Year recognition. This year, 43 elementary and 31 secondary educators have been selected by their peers. Campus Teachers of the Year will be recognized at the annual Teacher of the Year celebration that will be held in March, and each campus winner is eligible to apply for the District Teacher of the Year award in elementary or secondary categories.

FISD Staff Members Win Statewide Science Awards

Three Frisco ISD staff members are among the six educators from across the state who are being honored this year by the Science Teacher Association of Texas. Elementary Science Teacher of the Year Melissa Tollinger, High School Science Teacher of the Year Sabrina Ewald and Distinguished Leadership in Science winner Laura Lee McLeod were recognized last week at the Conference for the Advancement of Science Teaching in Fort Worth. FISD is excited and proud that half of this year’s statewide awards honored employees in our District.

Students Honor Veterans Across the Community

Students across Frisco ISD helped honor veterans who live in our community on Veterans Day. Celebrations included marching bands performing, veterans and active service members reading to elementary students, as well as luncheons for veterans that included speeches and slideshows. Stafford Middle School continued its 14-year tradition of honoring veterans with a dinner reception that included a guest speaker, performances by the school choir and orchestra, and a seventh grader reading his essay titled “How to Be a Good American.”
