Full-Day Prekindergarten Builds Strong Learners
Frisco ISD’s expanded prekindergarten program, which launched last school year in a full-day format, provides early learners the opportunity to gain the skills necessary to be successful in kindergarten and beyond. Research shows that full-day Pre-K students do better with language, literacy, math and social-emotional development and are less likely to be retained in future grade levels.

Rezoning This Fall to Balance Enrollment, Prepare for New Schools
Frisco ISD will introduce proposed attendance zones for Panther Creek High School and Minett Elementary at the next regular School Board meeting on Monday, Oct. 12. Both campuses are currently under construction near the new PGA headquarters and golf courses in northwest Frisco and will open to students in fall 2022. In addition to changes to accommodate the new schools, the District will also propose boundary modifications for the 2022-23 school year to effectively utilize space, balance enrollment in existing schools and promote student opportunity. Parents and students will be invited to provide feedback on the proposed zones on Oct. 25 before a final decision is made at the regular November School Board meeting.
Child Nutrition Overcomes Challenges to Prioritize Student Nutrition
The Child Nutrition Department is finding flexible and creative solutions to continue serving nutritious meals, despite a nationwide workforce shortage and supply chain issues that have impacted the food and service industry. The District is looking for full- and part-time staff to support an increase in school breakfast and lunch participation. If you or someone you know may be interested in joining the FISD Child Nutrition Department, please help us spread the word regarding job opportunities, including a job fair tomorrow, Friday, Oct. 8 from 7:30-11:30 a.m. In addition to a fun work environment, Frisco ISD staff are able to enroll their children in FISD schools, whether they live in the District or not.

Free GED Classes Available to Community Members
Frisco ISD has partnered with Collin County Adult Education and Literacy to help residents prepare for success on the GED exam. FISD has long been an approved testing site for individuals looking to earn a high school equivalency certificate through the state of Texas, but now community members can take free prep classes on weekday evenings. The service is funded through the Texas Workforce Commission at no cost to FISD or participants.
Volunteers and Mentors Needed to Support Student Learning
Frisco ISD is looking for adults in the community who are willing to volunteer their time, either in person or virtually, to help students learn about entrepreneurship, future career paths and more. Programs like the Business Incubator Program and Independent Study and Mentorship (ISM) rely on the participation of volunteers to guide and support students. If you are looking for a rewarding way to get involved with young people and give back to the community, please consider sharing your knowledge and experience with Frisco ISD students.
