Frisco ISD’s Managing Director of Transportation Doug Becker was behind the wheel on a route that serves Boals Elementary and Trent Middle School.
“It was awesome to see Mr. Becker out in the field driving,” Principal Perry said. “He and his team have done great work while short-staffed getting our kids to and from school.

“We love his ‘see a need, fill the need’ attitude and his actions are an embodiment of the #FISDWeAreOne convocation theme.”
Frisco ISD is currently hiring for several positions in transportation, including approximately 35 bus drivers and 12 bus monitors to drive more than 8,000 students to and from school each day. The District is also looking to fill more than 30 crossing guard positions.
“We run 172 routes each day and we don’t have enough staff to fill every position, every day,” Becker said. “While Mr. Perry saw me driving a bus last week, the transportation department comes together every single day to fill the needs of our students.
“We have reserve drivers that cover ‘open’ routes on a daily basis; however, the shortage is critical. Therefore, all our transportation office staff and mechanic staff are required to fill in and drive a bus if necessary. Mechanics, clerks, shop helpers, secretaries, supervisors, dispatchers, specialists, assistant directors, routers and receptionists are all trained and ready to drive a bus at any given time. And we all do.”
Becker pointed out that he is proud of the transportation staff who go above and beyond to make sure all students are provided transportation each day.
“I am honored to lead such an incredible team and I look forward to welcoming more to our group,” Becker said.
