Here are the top stories in McKinney-Frisco today:

  1. This week, several Frisco roadwork projects are starting that may impact traffic around the city. Restriping work is happening at Miners Creek Rd., Rifle Gap Rd., and Avenue of the Stars between Warren Parkway and Gaylord Parkway. Joint seal work beginning on Cotton Gin Road between Union Square Blvd. and Short St. will result in daily lane closures from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m. in both directions. There are also several pavement repairs happening at select addresses. (City of Frisco)
  2. On Dec. 9 at 7 p.m., the McKinney community is invited to tune in to a live-streamed celebration of the culture of dining and entertainment in the city. The virtual McKinney Made festival will feature mini-documentaries from a few of the city's most iconic restaurants and live music from top local talent. You can watch the livestream on the Visit McKinney Facebook page or hang out at an official watch party location. (Visit McKinney)
  3. McKinney ISD is well-represented on this year's academic all-state list. The athletes on this list, hand-selected by the Texas High School Coaches Association, are recognized for excelling at both schoolwork and their chosen sports. To be nominated for academic all-state, a student must be a high school senior who is either an athlete, trainer, or manager in good standing with their team, have good moral character, and have an overall GPA of 92 or above. Of the 12 academic all-state selections for McKinney Boyd, seven came from the school’s cross country program. (Star Local Media)
