Here are the top 3 stories in McKinney-Frisco today:
- Frisco City Manager George Purefoy announced yesterday that he will be retiring at the end of June. Purefoy is the first and only person to hold this title in the City of Frisco and has served in this role since November of 1987. In his 34 years on the job, he grew Frisco's city workforce from just 50 employees to over 1,300, and oversaw the city's population growth from 5,000 to 215,000 residents. Frisco has hired an executive search firm to help find the next City Manager and is expected to wrap up finalist interviews by May 2022. (CBS Dallas / Fort Worth)
- Frisco is finally ready to begin implementing its Downtown Master Plan, an evolving plan that has been more than 20 years in the making. In spring 2022, construction will begin on Elm Street to add on-street parking and a new traffic signal, said Jason Brodigan, Frisco's assistant director of engineering. Then, in the fall, Main Street will have its on-street parking removed to widen the sidewalks to 18 feet, and a pedestrian plaza will be constructed on Fourth Street. Both projects are expected to take one year each to complete. (Community Impact Newspaper)
- The Target store located at 2025 N. Central Expressway in McKinney will be getting some renovations this spring. Construction is expected to begin in late May, according to the Texas Department of Licensing and Registration. The remodeled McKinney Target will feature modernized design elements and "bring more ... digital experiences to our stores to make shopping even easier, safer, and more inspiring for our guests," said Shane Kitzman, a Target Communications representative.
