Here are the top stories in McKinney-Frisco today:
- A helicopter crashed during lift-off at McKinney National Airport on Thursday evening. Witnesses say the pilot was working on the helicopter and tried to lift off when the aircraft tilted and reportedly exploded. The pilot was the only person onboard and was able to get out of the wreckage. They were rushed to the hospital with burns from the explosion, and their condition is unknown at this time. - Frisco City Council has approved a Jan. 29 special election to fill an unexpired term for Place 5. The current Place 5 vacancy was left by a council member who recently announced a run for a county-level office. Interested candidates can download a packet from friscotx.gov and file their application by Dec. 20. The term runs through May of 2023. (Press Release Desk)
- The Frisco Education Foundation recently traveled to schools across the district to celebrate and surprise educators who won grants for innovative ideas. Last month, the Foundation delivered 23 grants worth more than $40,000 through its Grants for Great Ideas program. (Press Release Desk)
