Instructor At McKinney Church Accused Of Sexually Assaulting Kids

The 22-year-old suspect met victims through his responsibilities as an instructor of 7- and 8-year-old children, police allege.

MCKINNEY, TX — A 22-year-old instructor at McKinney's Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints was arrested March 23 for sexual assault of four children, but police believe other children could have been assaulted as well.

According to a statement from police, Noel Anderson is accused of assaulting children between the ages of 2 and 6 over a seven-year period at the church, located in the 1000 block of N. Lake Forest Drive.

Police say he met the victims through church activities, including his responsibilities as an instructor of 7- and 8-year-old children.

Police ask churchgoers whose children have been in Anderson's care to talk with their kids and report any concerns of inappropriate contact to McKinney Police Department at 972-547-2729.

Anderson faces one charge of Aggravated Sexual Assault of a Child and is held in Collin County Jail in lieu of $100,000 bail.

The church issued a statement to KXAS, saying, in part, ""Children are precious, and our hearts go out to the victims and their families. We stand ready to offer love, emotional support and professional counseling for them... Anyone who engages in such behavior is rightfully subject to criminal prosecution and will also face discipline from the Church, including loss of Church membership."
