Here are the top three stories in McKinney-Frisco today:

  1. Life Time Fitness is holding a grand opening today at its new Frisco location at 4913 Throne Hall Way. The 124,000-square-foot athletic resort offers studios for barre, indoor cycling, pilates, yoga, cardio, and strength group classes, as well as a Kids Academy. Members get access to the 30,000-square-foot beach club, alongside 10 outdoor tennis courts and 8 pickleball courts. (Community Impact Newspaper)
  2. After a year-long delay, Sweetwaters Coffee & Tea will open with a charity event benefitting Frisco Family Services. The event will be on Feb. 19 from 10:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m., Sweetwaters will collect toiletries, feminine hygiene and cleaning products, and 50 percent of proceeds will go towards the organization. Sweetwaters will hold a weeklong grand opening of its 1,650-square-foot facility and drive-thru with daily discounts from Feb. 26 to Mar. 4. (Community Impact Newspaper)
  3. A new $11 million indoor tennis complex is officially underway at Gabe Nesbitt Community Park in McKinney. The 55,000 square foot-facility will have six indoor courts, training rooms, administrative offices, locker rooms, and a second-level viewing mezzanine. The project is expected to be finished by the end of 2022. (North Texas e-News)

  • Frisco City Hall issued a media release regarding a new video that was posted from the house fire on Sunday, Jan. 30. Firefighters rescued the 15-year-old who was trapped on the second floor. The video shows the rear of the house collapsing ten seconds after the rescue. (Facebook)
  • As part of the City Council winter work session, Mayor Jeff Cheney is hosting his monthly "Coffee with the Mayor" today from 8:00 a.m. to 9:00 a.m. This presentation will feature plans for Grand Park and will take place at The Grove at Frisco Commons, instead of the usual location of City Hall.
