Here are the top three stories today in McKinney-Frisco:

  1. McKinney Fire Department’s Fire Station 11 opened this morning, Feb. 16, 2022, and is located at 6260 Rundell Way. The 15,000-square-foot station will serve residents and businesses in the Craig Ranch area. The facility features three apparatus bays, an on-site training tower, and the latest technology for preventing cancer among firefighters. Station 11 also houses a McKinney Police Department storefront office for Neighborhood Police Officers and by officers on patrol. (The Dallas Morning News)
  2. Frisco ISD has expanded its student mentorship program. The FISD Achieve Mentoring Program aims to pair students with caring and committed volunteers from across the community to provide support and mentorship to PK-12 students. The new program is led by Mentoring Coordinator Randall Ford who coordinates comprehensive support services for students and families in need across the District. (Press Release Desk)

The City of McKinney announced that a contract has been signed with Guido van Helten, an Australian-based artist, to paint the 100-feet-tall historic concrete silos and grain elevator in the Historic Downtown McKinney Cultural District.
