- McKinney's special City Council election is coming up on Jan. 15, and residents can begin voting as early as Dec. 29. The election will determine who will fill Councilmember Frederick Frazier's Place 2 At-Large City Council seat. Frazier, who is leaving City Council to run for a seat with the state legislature, will continue service until a new representative is elected to serve the remainder of the term until 2023. The three candidates on the ballot are John R. Booher, Patrick Cloutier, and Vicente Torres. (NBC 5 Dallas-Fort Worth)
- Want a chance to see Super Bowl LVI in Los Angeles? All you have to do is donate blood to your local Red Cross during the month of January. The American Red Cross will automatically enter all blood and plasma donors next month into a drawing for a chance to win tickets to the Super Bowl and a home theater package. Blood drives are happening on Dec. 29 at the Hampton Inn and Suites in McKinney, Dec. 30 at Half Price Books in Frisco, and Jan. 7 at Starbucks 380/423 in Frisco. (McKinney-Frisco Patch)
- The City of Frisco announced that various offices will be closed during the upcoming winter holidays. City offices, Frisco Municipal Court, Frisco Fire Safety Town, and the central fire administrative offices will be closed Dec. 24 and 27, and will reopen Dec. 28. The same offices will be closed again on Dec. 31 in observance of New Year’s Day. A press release indicated that trash collection schedules would not be impacted. (Community Impact Newspaper)
