Here are the top stories in McKinney-Frisco today:
- Five new businesses are coming to McKinney, including two new Starbucks locations and TexaKona Coffee Roasters, which will offer 107 drinks, as well as pastries and snacks in a music-themed environment as a tribute to vinyl rock. On the retail side, a new Boot Barn is coming to Craig Crossing, but an official opening date has not been announced. Village Green Alzheimer’s Care Home is preparing to open in Feb. and will provide a home environment that allows residents to live with dignity, respect, freedom and choice. - A handful of North Texas suburbs did not fare so well in a survey which ranks LGBTQ+ friendliness. McKinney and Grand Prairie both received scores of 36, according to the annual index, which scores U.S. cities on LGBTQ+ friendly policies, laws, services, and representation. This is the 10th year of the survey, which rated 506 cities across the country. Of those, a record 110 cities earned the highest score of 100, up from 11 cities in 2012. (The Dallas Morning News)
- Two Frisco residents are among five Denton County community members who have died as a result of COVID-19, bringing the total to 743 deaths due to COVID-19 in Denton County. (Press Release Desk)
- 4 Wheel Parts will be hosting an open house featuring a large display of industry brands, over $20,000 in giveaways, and day-long entertainment to celebrate the opening of their 100th brick and mortar location in Frisco on Dec. 4. (WFMZ Allentown)
- The Credit Union of Texas celebrated one year of business at the Frisco branch by rewarding select members with gift cards and serving bundt cakes to visitors. (Community Impact Newspaper)
