Here are the top 3 stories today in McKinney-Frisco:

  1. McKinney is seeking more community input before considering name changes for two streets named after former Texas Governor James W. Throckmorton. The street names have become a topic of discussion as Throckmorton's legacy has been called into question. The City Council's ongoing discussion follows deliberations over the fate of a statue of Throckmorton in downtown McKinney, which Council members have yet to decide on. (McKinney Courier-Gazette)
  2. As local families prepare their holiday dinners, the City of McKinney warns residents about some common holiday food waste and household items that may wreak havoc on your home's drains. Certain food scraps, fats, oils, grease, and dairy products could cause damage that requires potentially costly repairs. Residents are also reminded not to flush any cleaners, chemicals, paint, medicines, wipes, and personal care items down the toilet, and instead, throw it all in the trash or schedule a household hazardous waste (HHW) pickup with the City.
