Here are the top stories today in McKinney-Frisco:
- Unemployment rates have dropped across Texas to a rate of 5.4 percent statewide, a trend reflected in North Texas cities. In Collin County, McKinney’s unemployment rate remained at 3.7 percent from September to October, while the civilian labor force increased slightly (less than 1 percent). Frisco saw unemployment decrease by 0.1 percent. (Star Local Media)
- McKinney has made the cut for one of the best 100 U.S. cities to live in, thanks to its remote work readiness, excellent education, and civics. The city was ranked No. 60 in the nation and the No. 2 Texas city on the list. Plano was first (No. 17 overall), and Richardson followed McKinney at No. 3 in Texas (No. 66 overall). - A group of North Texas residents is seemingly unhappy with Marjorie Taylor Greene's upcoming visit to the Lone Star State. When Frisco Conservatives announced the Georgia Republican as the keynote speaker for the PAC’s annual winter gala on Dec. 11, Frisco resident Jesse Ringness, who runs a YouTube channel called Be the Change, paid for a digital billboard reading, "Marjorie Taylor Greene, NO THANKS. - Frisco voters." The billboard was denied by the City of Frisco for its "negative" sentiment, so Ringness and like-minded local residents are paying to keep the billboard up in McKinney, just off U.S. Highway 75 near Central Expressway.
