Here are the top three stories in McKinney-Frisco today:
- Although job creation has slowed slightly, McKinney-Frisco-area unemployment remains low. In Collin County, unemployment stood at 3.4 percent this November, significantly lower than the 5.4 percent unemployment rate of November 2020. The county rate is also lower than Texas's statewide unemployment rate of 4.5 percent. (McKinney-Frisco Patch)
- Frisco Independent School District announced the closure of its COVID-19 testing site at Kuykendall Stadium. Beginning Jan. 18, Bacchus Park at 13995 Main St. will serve as the new voluntary testing site. According to the announcement, separate entrance lines for students and staff will be established. (Community Impact)
- The City of Frisco is working to fix erosion along Cottonwood Creek and simultaneously enhance a neighborhood park. Construction began in September, and engineers continue to work on restoring the banks to their natural state by burying large bags of rocks calls grade controls under the creek beds. The City shared a "Progress In Motion" video to update the community on the project. (City of Frisco)
