- Last Saturday, the Frisco Wakeland boys rivaled the Frisco Lone Star boys soccer team at the Class 5A Region 2 Championship. Wakeland won the game in PKs 4-3 and is heading to the UIL Class 5A State Soccer Championships! Check out more than 90 photos from the marathon match. (Star Local Media)
- A section of Cottonwood Creek Greenbelt Trail at the Shaddock Creek Estates neighborhood will be closed for approximately four weeks starting today. Visitors will not be forced to turn around instead of continuing on the trail. The removal of the boardwalk will address the erosion issue at the tributary underneath it. - Collin County District Attorney Greg Willis announced that Apolonio Rodriguez, 33, of Celina, was sentenced by a jury to life in prison for aggravated assault with a deadly weapon causing serious bodily injury with family violence. There was a coordinated effort with the McKinney Police Department to find Rodriguez and the victim after he fled following the assault. They were finally located hiding in the attic of his family member's house. After the sentencing, Willis stated, "Rodriguez spent 15 years abusing multiple women. The verdict delivers vindication for the victims and perfect punishment for the predator." (Press Release Desk)
