Here are the top three stories today in McKinney-Frisco:

  1. The Wakeland High School band was a 2021 recipient of a prestigious international award. The John Philip Sousa Foundation Sudler Shield Award was given to the outstanding marching band for their world-class level of excellence. The band is under the direction of Tanner Smith, Daniel Berard, Lizzie Rivera, Brian Teed, Jeff Carmona, and Kylee Hubbard, and features more than 225 student musicians. (Press Release Desk)
  2. A Denver-based Italian restaurant chain, known for its family recipes, will be expanding to Texas in 2022. The fast-casual restaurant, Mici Handcrafted Italian, offers counter service and a menu of pizza, pasta, gelato, and wine, making it a favorite for families and a good fit for Frisco, according to MICI CEO Elliot Schiffer. Three locations are expected to open in the Frisco area, including one at 8244 FM 423 near Little Elm. (The Dallas Morning News)
  3. In the coming months, some businesses will be undergoing renovations in the Frisco area. Over the last two weeks, various projects have been filed through the Texas Department of Licensing and Regulation, including a renovation at Crumbl Cookies, located at 4880 W. Eldorado Parkway, Ste. 400, which will take place from April 1-June 30. Other upcoming projects include new construction beginning in April at Halo Pizzeria and a renovation at Naf Naf Grill starting March 6. (Community Impact)

  • Three cars had their windows smashed at Bonnie Wenk Park recently. The three victims left their purses in plain sight. This is why the McKinney Police Department says to Lock, Take, Hide. (Facebook)
  • After being suspended last Thursday and Friday, the McKinney trash and recycling pick-up service returned to normal operations on Monday, Feb. 7. Thursday and Friday customers may put out an additional 5 bags total of trash and/or recycling on their regularly scheduled pick-up date this week. (Facebook)
