Happy Saturday, neighbors! Let's get you all caught up on what's happening locally to start today off on an informed note.
First, today's weather:
Windy. High: 75 Low: 63.
Here are the top three stories in McKinney-Frisco today:
- If your tap water has a more noticeable chlorine taste over the next few weeks, it's not your pipes: The North Texas Municipal Water District has announced the temporary removal of ammonia from the water as part of its annual routine maintenance work in its 13 member cities, including McKinney and Frisco. Maintenance is slated to continue through Mar. 29, and the district says residents may notice the presence of chlorine in their water until then. Learn more of the details of this process on the NTMWD's website. (Community Impact Newspaper)
- Frisco ISD is celebrating victory as the Memorial High School girls basketball team advances to the State Championship game. On Thursday night, the Warriors defeated Amarillo 59-48 in the semifinals, and now they'll be playing against Cedar Park in the finals this afternoon at 3:00 p.m. This year marks the fourth in a row that a Frisco ISD team will play for the girls' basketball state title. - In 2003, four members of a McKinney family — all of whom suffered from hearing loss — received cochlear implants to restore their ability to hear. Fast forward nearly 20 years and the Capen family is happy and thriving, thanks to the local doctors who implanted the "medical miracle" technology. "We did not want to limit them," said Rebecca Capen of the family's decision to get cochlear implants for herself, her husband, and their two children. "We wanted them to know they could do whatever they wanted to do." (WFAA.com)
