2 Off-Duty HPD Officers Shoot Man With Rifle Outside Nightclub

HOUSTON, TX — Two Houston Police Officers are on administrative duty after they were involved in a shooting outside of a nightclub in the Museum District Wednesday morning.
Police said the two officers, who were off-duty at the time, were working security at the Faces Ultra Lounge in the 5100 block of Alameda Road, when patrons at the club told them about a fight in the parking lot, officials said.

Acting Houston Police Chief Troy Finner said the two officers ordered the man several times to drop the weapon, but he refused.
According to a Houston Chronicle report, the man pointed the rifle at the officers, who fired their weapons at the man, hitting him several times.

No one else was injured.
The man was taken to Ben Taub Hospital, where he underwent surgery and is listed in critical condition.
Both officers were placed on administrative duty pending the outcome of an investigation, Finner said.
Officials didn’t say if the suspect will face charges.
