Medical Center Hospital opens renovated progressive care unit with 14 new beds (firstalert7.com) — Medical Center Hospital in Odessa has opened a renovated progressive care unit with 14 additional beds, expanding capacity for patients who are not quite ready to leave intensive care. The upgraded floor features digital patient boards, remote monitoring, larger rooms, and ceiling lifts, all aimed at safer, faster recoveries for Odessa patients and their families.
2. UTPB football returns to D2 standings following fourth straight win (firstalert7.com) — UTPB's Falcons, based in Odessa, have climbed back into the Division II national rankings at No. 23 after four straight wins by at least two scores. Head coach Chris Softley says the team is focused on weekly performance, with their next test coming Oct. 10 at West Texas A&M.

August Pfluger is backing a bill to add over 6,000 donated acres to Big Bend National Park at no cost to the government. He says the expansion aims to protect West Texas land while balancing border security concerns, with a House vote expected after lawmakers return Nov. 9.
