1. Restaurant Reports (kogt.com) — Recent Orange County health inspections show several Orange restaurants earning perfect or high scores, while others were cited for issues like pests, food storage problems, and dirty equipment. Since all listed businesses are in Orange unless noted, residents can quickly see which local spots excelled and which were told to clean up problems ranging from moldy vents to rodent droppings.
2. Public meeting set Oct. 20 on Orange County levee project (12newsnow.com) — Orange County residents are being asked to weigh in on a major 20‑mile levee and floodwall project designed to reduce storm surge risk, with a public meeting set for Oct. 20 in nearby Bridge City. The Army Corps of Engineers will present its draft environmental study, explain potential impacts on land and wildlife, and take public comments through Oct. 26, shaping the final design that will protect homes and businesses across the county.
3. Triangle Rescue team places in top 10 at international rescue competition (12newsnow.com) — An Orange-based Triangle Rescue team recently tested its skills on an international stage, finishing ninth against 14 elite rescue teams in the three‑day True North Rescue Challenge. Led by local first responders Dylan Compton and Matt Wright, the group tackled demanding canyon zip‑lines, river rappels, and cliff rescues, and is already training in Orange for its next global competition.
4. Traffic Stop Leads To Indictment (kogt.com) — An Orange man has been indicted by a Jefferson County grand jury after a March traffic stop where a DPS trooper reported finding marijuana, THC vape pens, drug paraphernalia, and a handgun in his vehicle. The 34-year-old, stopped in Beaumont after allegedly running a red light, faces multiple drug and weapons charges following lab analysis and evidence seizure.
