• Lamar State College-Orange enrollment up (theexaminer.com) — Lamar State College Orange has hit a record enrollment of more than 8,000 students this fall, dramatically expanding its impact on local families and employers. The college credits dual credit programs, partnerships, and workforce training for the surge, and there’s still time for Orange-area residents to join in Fall II classes starting October 26. 
• County Purchases Constable Vehicles (kogt.com) — Orange County Commissioners Court has approved buying county-owned vehicles for all full-time constables, ending the practice of using personal cars for official duties. The change, funded in the 2026–2027 budget, aims to improve public safety, reduce liability, and give law enforcement better tools to serve neighborhoods across the county.
• Conrad, Master Boat, Saronic Win Landing Craft Contracts (waterwaysjournal.net) — Conrad Shipyard in Orange has been chosen by the U.S. Navy, alongside two other Gulf Coast builders, to prototype new LCU 1700 landing craft, potentially boosting local shipyard work for years. The contracts are part of a broader push to expand U.S. shipbuilding capacity, with construction and deliveries planned through 2029.
