• Palestine ISD basketball coach accused of abusing, threatening to kill son (kltv.com) — A Palestine High School boys basketball coach has been arrested after police say he assaulted and threatened to kill his 15-year-old son on campus, leading to his placement on leave by Palestine ISD. A school resource officer intervened during the hallway and locker room altercation, and the student was treated at a hospital and released while police investigate additional abuse allegations.
• Fort Worth's Wolman, Arlington's Camp appointed to Trinity River Authority board of directors (fortworthreport.org) — A Palestine resident, CPA Rich Lavinski, has been appointed by Gov. Greg Abbott to the Trinity River Authority board, which helps oversee water resources for the basin. His selection puts a local voice in regional water planning and continues his long record of service, including roles with First Methodist Church Palestine and area nonprofits.
• #bEASTTexas Fabulous 15: 3-0 Rusk moves into rankings (tylerpaper.com) — Rusk's football team edged previously unbeaten Palestine 35-34, dropping the Wildcats but keeping them in the mix among East Texas programs receiving poll votes. Palestine is also set to host Henderson in another notable matchup this week, giving local fans a chance to see how the team responds after the narrow loss.
