18-Year Old Killed During Attempted Home Invasion

BAYTOWN, TX — A teenage boy was shot to death Sunday night during an attempted home invasion.

The shooting happened just before 10 p.m. at an apartment complex in the in the 300 block of South Pruett St.

Police said the teenager, identified as 18-year old Jalen Cole, and another man broke into the apartment wearing masks and tried to rob the people inside the apartment, KPRC reported.

During the incident, shots were exchanged between Cole and his accomplice, with the occupants in the apartment. KTRK reported.

Cole was shot once, and died in the street as he and is accomplice ran from the apartment, police said.

A neighbor in the apartment next door, suffered a gunshot wound to the shoulder when a bullet pierced the wall during the shootout.

Meanwhile, police are looking for a person of interest, identified as 30-year-old Jeremy Jamal Wheaton Ardion.

Police have not said Ardion could be involved, but they do believe he could have information about the home invasion, KTRK reported.

Crime Stoppers is offering up to $5,000 for information leading to the arrest and conviction of the suspect in this case.
