Baytown Man’s Home Is Burglarized While He’s In The Hospital

Burglars took televisions, game consoles and cash while family was tending to man injured in car accident

BAYTOWN, TX -- A man who is recovering from a horrific car accident was the victim of a burglary while he was hospitalized this week.

William Sims, 18, is home and still recovering from an accident he was involved in March 13, when the car he was driving slammed into the side of an 18-wheeler on Oakland Street, near Interstate 10 and Decker Drive.

Investigators said Sims may have been going too fast around a curve and didn’t see the truck in time to slow down, when he crashed his pickup into the side of the semi.

As soon as his family was notified, they rushed to the hospital to be there for him.

However, to add insult to injury, Sims home was burglarized when he was in the hospital, with burglars getting away with several televisions, game consoles and cash.

Sims, who said he’s thankful to be alive, is recovering at home, while his his 17-year old female passenger, who suffered two broken arms, a broken leg and is in an induced coma to reduce swelling on her brain, is still hospitalized.
