Frazier Elementary principal Wendy Wiseburn has been awarded the Outstanding Leadership by an Afterschool Administrator – Spirit of Excellence Award from CASE for Kids.
The Harris County Department of Education’s Center for Afterschool, Summer, and Enrichment for Kids, or CASE for Kids presents Spirit of Excellence Awards every year to honor the dedication and commitment of individuals that serve in different areas of afterschool programs.
The 2020 Spirit of Excellence Awards includes seven categories including Outstanding Leadership by an Afterschool Administrator, given to individuals who demonstrate a commitment to afterschool programs. Due to COVID-19, this year’s award ceremony was cancelled and winners were recognized through CASE for Kids’ social media.

Wendy Wiseburn was nominated for this award by Frazier’s CASE for Kids program site coordinator, Susan Blue.
“Ms. Wiseburn recognizes the value of our program as we provide enrichment activities and academic support to Frazier students in a safe and loving place for parents to leave their children after school while they work,” Blue said.
Blue said that Wiseburn is “always the first to promote” the school’s afterschool program.
“She loves visiting the activities and interacting with the students and they love seeing her have fun with them,” said Blue.
Led by Wiseburn, the CASE program started at Frazier 14 years ago. Since then, the program has become an “integral part of the education and services provided for students and families,” the principal said.
“Kids love our afterschool program, and I am excited that we are able to provide this support to our community year after year,” said Wiseburn. The after-school program is staffed by Frazier teachers and aides and utilizes the school’s gym, cafeteria, library and classrooms to host as many children as possible.
