Man accidentally shot while trying to fix a jammed weapon: Police

FRIENDSWOOD, TX — A man who was practicing at the gun range, accidentally shot himself Sunday afternoon.

The shooting happened at about 2:40 p.m. at the Best Shot Range in the 4000 block of FM 2351 Road.

Witnesses said the victim was trying to correct a malfunction on his weapon when the gun went off, and bullet him in the neck, KTRK reported

The man was taken to Clear Lake Medical Center Hospital and is in stable condition, according to KPRC report.

This is the second accidental shooting at a local gun range in the last month.

On Dec. 12, Joshua Cummings was shot to death in the parking lot of the Hot Wells Shooting Range, when a hunting rifle being serviced by a range employee discharged.

Hot Wells Shooting Range closwed during the course of the investigation, and slowly reopened the range after Christmas, and fully reopened on Jan. 2.

That case was referred to the Harris County District Attorney’s Office, and is still under investigation.

The shooting at the Best Shot Range is being investigated as accidental.
