Man Accused In Channelview Woman's Murder Arrested In Kentucky

CHANNELVIEW, TX β€” A man wanted for the murder of a Channelview woman in September has been arrested in Kentucky. Jerry Wayne Greer, 38, is accused of killing Edna McWorter during an argument outside of a bar.

On Saturday Sept. 1, 2018, at 2:16 a.m., deputies with the Harris County Sheriff's Office responded to an in-progress call at 17130 Market in East Harris County.

When deputies arrived, they discovered McWorter, 29, dead from an apparent gunshot wound.

Witnesses said Greer pulled out a handgun and shot McWorter in the chest outside the V Lounge before fleeing in a black Mustang.

At the time of the shooting, Greer was wanted on felony charges of domestic assault, officials said.

Homicide investigators learned that Greer was staying at a local Lexington hotel on Saturday, Feb. 9.

Lexington Police officers set up surveillance on the hotel, and Greer was arrested when he came out the hotel.

Greer will be extradited back to Harris County to face arraignment.

Murder charges were accepted by the Harris County DA's Office.
