Manhunt Underway In Alvin For Shooter, Police Question Two Others [UPDATE]

Investigators are quetioning two persons of interest who may have seen, or been involved in the shooting death of a man Tuesday morning.

(Update) ALVIN, TX — Two persons of interest are in police custody and being questioned about the shooting death of a man outside of an Alvin area garden center Tuesday morning.

The shooting was reported in the 3300 block of W. FM 517 at about 10:40 a.m.

According to investigators, a woman living across from Barber's Nursery saw a man walking on the property and called her uncle, who was the propderty caretaker, according to a Houston Chronicle report. Witnesses told investigators that the victim drove over on an ATV, and spotted a dark colored Ford pickup, and drove over to investigate.

When he went to speak with the men in the truck, the passenger shot him several times.

The man who was seen wandering the property ran off as soon a the shots were fired, investigators said.

Galveston County Sheriff Henry Trochesset said one of the men, who was carrying a rifle with a sling, walked off along FM 517 toward Alvin after the shooting, while the other drove away in the opposite direction toward Dickinson in a dark Ford King Ranch pickup, with TX license plate HDK8444, according to a KPRC report.

Sheriff’s deputies and officers from the Friendswood Police Department are looking for a white or Hispanic man, about 5’11” tall and about 140 pounds, wearing all black clothing, and carrying a rifle.

KHOU reported that the suspect may also have a long goatee and facial tattoos.

A witness managed to take a photo of the pickup, which is being distributed by local law enforcement agencies.

Windsong Intermediate School, which is in the vicinity of the shooting, was placed on lockdown, and other six campuses in Friendswood ISD were on heightened security, according to a KTRK report.
