Mont Belvieu Woman Killed In East Texas Storm

Mary Pinney, 40, was killed and her husband was severely injured when high winds toppled a tree onto their tent Saturday night.

MARION COUNTY, TX — A 40-year old Mont Belvieu woman was killed over the weekend when high winds from a severe storm caused a tree to topple onto the tent she and her family camping in an east Texas camp ground.

The accident happened on Saturday at the Brushy Creek Campgrounds near Longview.

Officials said Mary Pinney, as camping with her family when the tree fell, killing her severely injuring her husband.

The couple's three children were not hurt, officials said.

Pinney was one of two people killed by the storms late Saturday and early Sunday as straight lne winds of about 90 miles an hour accompanied storms with golfball sized hail moved eastward fro Texas into Louisiana.
