The newly selected principals will have big shoes to fill as they replace Paula Sword of Jackson and Tom Swan of Community School, both well-loved district employees who are retiring after over four decades of service.

Capra has served Pasadena ISD for 23 years. She earned her bachelor’s from Our Lady of the Lake University and began teaching in Northside ISD as an English teacher shortly thereafter. She made the move to Pasadena ISD in 1997 and began teaching at Queens Intermediate as an English teacher. In 1998, she started teaching at Pasadena High School, where she served for 12 years. Beginning in 2010, Capra began working at Community School as a drop-out coordinator until she was promoted to assistant principal in 2013.

“I am excited and proud to have been chosen as the new principal of Community School,” said Capra. “I look forward to supporting the district’s ongoing efforts to address the needs of students who are at risk of not graduating and to help them to re-write their life stories.”

Prior to working with Pasadena ISD, Stewart earned her bachelor’s degree from Stephen F. Austin University. After graduation, she began teaching secondary Science in Lufkin ISD from 2001-2004, followed by her position in Texarkana ISD from 2004-2006. Stewart began teaching in Pasadena ISD at Sam Rayburn High School in 2006 as a Biology/SIOP teacher. In 2010, she joined the Pasadena High School Eagles as a campus content specialist until she was promoted to assistant principal in 2014. She has served Pasadena ISD for 14 years.

“I am incredibly thankful for the opportunity to serve the Jackson Intermediate School community, staff and students,” said Stewart. “It is my honor to work with the Jackson family as we continue to strive for our values of tradition, pride and excellence. Go Wildcats!”
