Man Killed In Shootout With Pasadena PD Is ID'd [Video]

A Pasadena police officer shot and killed a man who shot at him during a traffic stop Thursday afternoon.

PASADENA, TX — A man who was killed in a shootout with a Pasadena police officer on Friday has been identified.

Marco Antonio Saavedra, 44, was shot and killed by a Pasadena police officer when he got out of his car during a traffic stop, and began shooting at the officer.

The officer returned fire, killing him.

The shooting happened at about 4 p.m. in front of the Shell Credit Union in the 400 block of Southmore and Spooner.

The shooting was captured on the officer's body camera, and on the patrol units dash-camera.

Police investigators said they do not know why the man got out of his car and shot at the officer.

The officer, a 13-year veteran, is on administrative leave.

The shooting is under investigation.
