Pasadena's 'Can Do' Food Drive In Full Swing
Food Drive that feeds thousands every year is looking for donations of non-perishable foods

PASADENA, TX -- The City of Pasadena, the Pasadena Independent School District and the Pasadena Chamber of Commerce are continuing their efforts to combat hunger with a food drive.
The food drive is held each November and collects non-perishable food for five Pasadena food pantries:
• Pasadena Community Ministries
• Salvation Army
• Sarah’s House
• The Bridge
• Society of St. Stephen (food pantry at First United Methodist Church).
The food drive helps feed thousands of area families.

Last year, more than 40,000 pounds of food was donated at the event and this year event organizers are hoping to surpass the 50,000-pound mark.
Any canned goods and non-perishable food items are accepted and appreciated. The following items are the top 10 most requested by the Can Do recipient organizations:

1. Vienna sausages/Spam
2. Jelly
3. Peanut butter
4. Cans of fruit
5. Cereal
6. Macaroni and cheese
7. Tuna
8. Bottles of juice
9. Beans
10. Soup
Additionally, the Can Do Food Drive also accepts monetary donations, which are tax-deductible. Anyone who would like to make a monetary donation can make the check payable to City of Pasadena and mail to: City of Pasadena, PO Box 672, Pasadena, TX 77501-0672, Attn: Barbara Sitzman (Can Do Food Drive).
