Teenage Girl Dies in Early Morning Fire

Mother and grandmother who were in the home managed to escape the flames, mom treated for smoke inhalation.

PASADENA, TX -- A house fire claimed the life of a 17-year old girl early Saturday morning.

Firefighters were called out to a home near the intersection of Eagle Avenue and Randall Street at about 12:30 a.m., and that two women -- the 17 year old girl and her mother -- were trapped inside.

Fire investigators said the mother managed to jump out of a second-story window to safety and was transported to the hospital for smoke inhalation.

She is expected to recover, but the 17-year old girl, who still has not been identified, did not survive.

The cause of the fire is under investigation.
