Rising construction costs have pushed the project beyond its original $6.2 million plan, and residents are encouraged to donate or connect COPS with supporters to expand local swim lessons and water-safety programs.
3. H-E-B rival is setting up shop directly across the street from this location (lmtonline.com) — Plano shoppers will soon see a new Trader Joe's built at 5900 Preston Road, directly across from the city's only H-E-B. The $900,000 store will be Plano's second Trader Joe's, with construction expected to start in December and wrap up by June 2027, further intensifying the local grocery competition and adding another option for residents.
4. Suspect in Plano murder dead after high-speed pursuit on I-35 near Valley View (fox4news.com) — Police say a woman was fatally shot by her ex-boyfriend at a home near Parker Road and Alma Drive in Plano, and the suspect later died after a fiery high-speed chase on I-35 near Valley View. Neighbors in the usually quiet Plano neighborhood are shocked, while investigators from several agencies continue piecing together how the pursuit, standoff, and grass fire unfolded.
5. Public Notice Walmart Mail Order Pharmacy located at 1025 W Trinity Mills, Carrolton, TX 75006 will permanently close on October 3, 2026. If you are a patient, you should call your pharmacy of choice (lakeonews.com) — If you use Walmart's mail order pharmacy, your prescriptions may soon be moved to the Walmart pharmacy at 8040 Independence Parkway in Plano unless you choose another pharmacy by October 2, 2026. Local patients are urged to call ahead to direct where their medications should go and to get help with transfers or copies of their prescription records.
