Flooding Leads To Sewer Overflow In Plano

Tap water is unaffected by the wastewater overflow and is safe to drink, city officials say.

PLANO, TX — The city of Plano announced excessive rain caused an overflow in the city's sanitary sewer system in the 5500 block of W. Plano Parkway starting Wednesday morning.

According to a statement from the city, the overflow started around 7:45 a.m. Wednesday and continued to around 2:00 a.m. Thursday.

The city estimates around 1,095,000 gallons of wastewater overflowed into White Rock Creek.

Drinking water was not affected by this overflow and is still safe to drink, the city said.

A clean-up process is underway in the area.
