Plano Police Blotter: 118 Thefts Reported
Of 238 property crimes reported in Plano in the last two weeks, 118 were theft. Here's a look at other types of crime in the city.

PLANO, TX — Crime is unavoidable. Even in notably calm cities like Plano, reports of criminal activity pour into 9-1-1 call centers. The good news for Plano residents is that reports of violent crime remain low. In fact, with a population of 286,057 and only 69 violent incidents reported, only about 0.02 percent of the population experienced a violent crime in the past 15 days.
The most common type of reported crime in Plano is property theft, which occurs at a higher rate than violent crime. Based on data from from CrimeReports, only about 0.09 of Plano's population reported a property theft in the last 15 days.
A closer look at the data reveals that most thefts happen either in buildings or cars. What this means is a large number of the reported thefts were likely shoplifting offenses. Meanwhile, nine calls were made to report things stolen from vehicles. Two reports of stolen cars bottomed out the list.

Only eight burglaries, or breaking and entering crimes, were reported, and only two robberies were reported.
