Pleasure Island cameras and $25,000 fine signs target illegal dumping in Port Arthur (kfdm.com) โ Port Arthur officials have installed working cameras and posted $25,000 fine warnings on Pleasure Island to crack down on long-running illegal dumping problems. Police say dumping still happens across the city, but residents already see fewer piles of trash on the island as the new surveillance helps identify violators and sends a stronger message to would-be dumpers.

2. High diesel prices squeeze Gulf shrimpers (marketplace.org) โ Shrimpers based in Port Arthur are struggling as diesel prices soar and shrimp prices stay low, forcing many boats to sit idle. Longtime local shrimper Kyle Kimball and the Port Arthur Area Shrimpers Association describe how rising fuel costs and cheap imports are squeezing profits and discouraging younger workers from entering an already shrinking Gulf shrimp industry.

3. Triangle Rescue team places in top 10 at international rescue competition (12newsnow.com) โ Two Port Arthur Fire Department first responders, Dylan Compton and Matt Wright, helped their Triangle Rescue team place ninth at an intense three-day international rescue competition. They tackled zip lines, canyon rescues, and cold river rappels, and now plan to keep training and sharpening their skills that also support emergency responses back home in Port Arthur.

4. Cheniere Notches 22-Year LNG Contract to Supply Petrobras (rigzone.com) โ A long-term LNG supply deal with Petrobras will be partly met by Sempra's under-construction Port Arthur LNG Phase 2 project in Jefferson County, tying Port Arthur more closely to global gas markets. The project's multiple trains are scheduled to come online between 2027 and 2031, promising expanded export capacity and more industrial activity tied to local natural gas resources.
