Lee House so it can finally make safety repairs and restart popular trolley tours at Fort Ringgold. City leaders say grant funding will cover needed work on the porch, roof, flooring, and air conditioning, with hopes the museum can reopen as a stronger cultural attraction for residents and visitors.
• Starr County Precinct 4 Offers Free Sandbags Ahead of Severe Weather (foxrgv.tv) — Starr County Precinct 4 residents in Rio Grande City can pick up free sandbags at the precinct yard on North Flores Street (FM 755) as severe weather approaches. Each household can receive four bags by showing valid ID, with sand, bags, and shovels provided so neighbors can fill and place their own flood protection in time.
• Football Recap: Make It Five in a Row for Mcallen (maxpreps.com) — McAllen's Bulldogs stayed undefeated with a dominant 33–7 win over Rowe and now turn their attention to facing Rio Grande City at 7 p.m. on October 8.
