19 Round Rock Residents Graduate From 'UniverCity'

Graduating class is second to undergo 10-week program designed to engage and educate residents on city operations.

ROUND ROCK, TX — Nineteen residents from the municipal citizen education program dubbed UniverCity formally graduated during a ceremony at Thursday’s city council meeting, officials said.

The 10-week program is designed to engage and educate residents on city operations. In going through the program, UniverCity participants experience in-depth firsthand the work it takes to run a city department, officials explained. To that end, each city department hosts a presentation, conducts tours or break out sessions each week and provides valuable information about day-to-day operations of the city and future projects, officials added.

The following participants received a certification of completion: Mike Curtis; Jen Henderson; Marianne Reap; Cara Watkins; Candice McElhaney; Joe Alvarado; Christina Rudofsky; JC Williams; Amy Donovan; Angel Donato; Jennifer Smith; Jennifer Diamond; Donna Kohn; Julio Palacios; Arlen Zander; Laura McManus; Audrey Simmons; John Porterfield; and Jon Reingold.

Officials noted this was the second class to graduate from UniverCity since the program's launch last year. Space is already limited for the next course scheduled to begin this fall, officials said.

“I want to thank everyone for taking the time to be engaged and to learn about what makes our City so great,” Mayor Craig Morgan said in a prepared statement.
