360 Jobs to Round Rock, Flood Mitigation Pass Council
The Round Rock city council approved new projects that will bring in hundreds of jobs and protect local homes from flooding.
ROUND ROCK, TX - Thursday’s council meeting ended in approvals that could have major impacts on Round Rock. The council okayed a new economic development program that could mean new jobs four Round Rock, and dam modification that could aid in flood mitigation.
The new development program will bring the company Airco Austin into Round Rock, and more than 360 jobs along with it. The company deals in heating repair and air conditioner installation.

The newly approved dam 11 modifications will help with flood mitigation as part of the Interlocal Agreement with the Upper Brushy Creek Water Control and Improvement District.

There are currently more than 60 homes within the Greater Round Rock West neighborhood that are in a 10-year floodplain and all roadways crossing Lake Creek are in danger of being flooded out. Flood mitigation is a serious challenge the city must face in order to protect its citizens from losing their homes.
The council gave the go ahead for water line replacements as part of the Creek Bend Boulevard extension, which will extend the existing four-lane divided roadway from Creek Bend Circle across Brushy Creek and Hairy Man Road to connect with Brightwater Boulevard at Wyoming Springs Drive.

The council also approved an Agreement with DIJ Construction, Inc. for pavement marking and curb painting services.
